Many local businesses and individuals have played a major role in Saturday, August 23rd’s fundraiser for the JDRF.

Many local businesses and individuals devoted their time, professional resources, and financial contributions to the event in a variety of ways including in-kind donations, sponsorships, event supplies, make-up, fashion, model talent, and prizes. Those local businesses and individuals include: Autobell, Bird on a Rock Inc., Bonefish Grill, Buffaloe Lanes, Café Carolina, Chik-fil-A, Cookies by Design, Domino’s, Fedex-Kinkos, 5 Star Restaurant & Bar, 42nd Street Oyster Bar, Q-Shack, Jiffy Lube, Jersey Mikes, Jimmy Johns, Moe’s, Spectrum Screen Printing, Lamont Farmer, Lowe’s Food, The Loop, Maggie Moo’s, Magic Corner, Reedy Creek Golf Course, Red Hot & Blue, Red Lobster, SB Couture, Spectrum Screen Printing, Stanley Steemer, Starbucks, and the Umstead Hotel & Spa.
“The amount of support for this event that our friends and colleagues have provided is truly astonishing”, says Adkins, whose son was diagnosed seven years ago with Juvenile Diabetes when he was only 10 years old. “It really speaks volumes about the businesses and more importantly – the business-owners in this area”, added Forsyth, “this event will produce so much more of a financial impact for the JDRF than it could have without the amount of support we’ve received.”
The original designs that will be on display at the show are the talent of Brooke Holland Designs from her Feather Collection and Meschantes Corsitry. The vintage designer duds set to be modeled during the show have been donated for use by Stuff, a local consignment shop with a knack for vintage couture fashions. The dramatic hair and make-up that will also be featured is provided by volunteer designers from Haircolor Xperts and the professional stage make-up retailer, Magic Corner, who donated over $700.00 worth of products for the show.

Attendees will have more opportunities to further support the fundraiser at the event by participating in on-location raffles and purchasing event apparel including t-shirts and tank tops at the fashion show. The evening’s big prize for those who purchase raffle tickets at the show is a one-night stay for two at Cary’s Umstead Hotel & Spa valued at over $380.00 – which was graciously provided by the Umstead Hotel & Spa for the event.
